iPhone 8 Leaks Compilation Till December:
The report about Apple’s iPhone 8 having curved display seems to be true as an unknown source told the Korea Herald, “as Apple ordered only plastic OLED instead of glass to Samsung Display, the new iPhone will have curved screen with OLED Display. Samsung is capable of supplying a little less than 100 million units of curved OLED displays to Apple.”
According to a report – for the curved panels plastic OLED is used such as in Samsung’s Galaxy S7 Edge while glass OLED is used for flat panels. So as per the report, all the orders have been placed for plastic OLED instead of glass, the upcoming iPhone surely have a curved display.
KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said about the plans of Apple:
“We predict OLED iPhone will be 5.1-5.2-inch, despite various market speculation. In terms of the display size of the OLED iPhone, current information from the upstream points to 5.8-inch, while that from the downstream points to 5-inch, which does not conflict, in our view. We predict OLED iPhone will adopt a 5.7-5.8-inch flexible OLED panel (with Samsung (KR) as the exclusive supplier). Nonetheless, for ‘specific design purposes’, the actual active area may be around 5.1-5.2-inch. Other than the OLED model, we expect Apple to launch new 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch TFT-LCD iPhone models.”
Samsung Galaxy series used curved panels before Apple, but iPhone 8 will surely be different from Samsung. According to Korean Herald “With the curved display upcoming iPhone may also introduce sensing technology, so that phone will response on touching any part of the device”. Rumors also suggest that iPhone 8 will have an edge to edge display and touch ID fingerprint sensor will be embedded.
