This Fall Creators Update Will Bring New Windows 10 Pro For Workstations OS: Designed to make high-end PCs a bit more responsive & reliable, the Windows 10 Pro for Workstations, supporting server graded hardwares has been announced by Microsoft as a new version of Windows for particular section of users & organizations. As it has been announced recently, the same will be available alsong with the upcoming Windows 10 fall Creators Update. It has been specifically designed to meet the demands of mission critical & compute intensive workloads & as it comes with some unique supports for the server graded PCs hardware it will be a boom for the high-end PC users.
New Version Of Windows For Power Users As Windows 10 Pro For Workstations About To Come This Fall:
According to the Company, Further for full utilization of those high-end processors that include Intel Xeon & AMD Opteron having several cores in single & multi-processors, the related tweaks to the Windows kernel will help the Operating System.
The newly added features with the Operating System will include the following as listed below:
Fast File Sharing:
The Windows 10 Pro for Workstations will have a feature called SMB Direct, which will support the use of network adapters that have Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA) capability. Network adapters that will have RDMA can function at full speed with very low latency, while using very little CPU.
For applications that access large datasets on remote SMB file shares, this feature will enable:
- Increased Throughput: Leverages the full throughput of high speed networks where the network adapters coordinate the transfer of large amounts of data at line speed.
- Low Latency: Provides extremely fast responses to network requests, and, as a result, makes remote file storage feel as if it is directly attached storage.
- Low CPU Utilization: Uses fewer CPU cycles when transferring data over the network, which leaves more power available to other applications running on the system.
ReFS (Resilient File System):
The ReFS will provide cloud grade resiliency for data on fault tolerant storage spaces and will manage very large volumes very easily. ReFS is designed to be resilient to data corruption, optimized for handling large data volumes, auto-correcting and much more. It will protect user data with integrity streams on the mirrored storage spaces. Using its integrity streams, ReFS will detect, when data becomes corrupt on one of the mirrored drives and will use a healthy copy of user data on the other drive to correct and protect user valuable data.
The Windows 10 Pro for Workstations will provide the most demanding apps and data with the performance they require with non-volatile memory modules (NVDIMM-N) hardware. NVDIMM-N will enable the user to read and write the files with the fastest speed possible, the speed of the computer’s main memory. Because NVDIMM-N is non-volatile memory, so the files will still be there, even when we switch the workstation off.
Hardware Support Will Expand:
One of the top main points expressed by the Windows Insiders is the limits on taking advantage of the raw power of their machine. Hence, here some expanded hardware support with Windows 10 Pro for Workstations will be available. The Users will be easily able to run Windows 10 Pro for Workstations on the devices with much higher performance configurations including server grade Intel Xeon or AMD Opteron processors, with up to 4 CPUs (i.e today limited to 2 CPUs) and add massive memory up to 6TB (i.e today limited to 2TB).
These additional features with the updated OS will definitely change the mindset of working at server grade PCs.
