The update does not seem to have any new major changes in the feature other than the renaming of the App.

Although some more exciting features i.e the 3D effects that were expected to be available by this Fall Creators update, unfortunately, it could not make its way out as a part of this Story Remix App this time & will be available with some delay after the Fall Creators Update. A Senior Program Manager working with Windows Insider Program Team i.e Brandon LeBlanc, notably said that the Story Remix is just one name that presently the team is considering & it is yet to be finalized. He tweeted as:

We are actually testing a few different name choices for the Photos App with #WindowsInsiders. Naming is not yet final. Give us feedback!

And as see & consider the new name of the Photo App, it doesn’t seem to be setting any milestone in future in either way. As per the tweet, there is a possibility that the default Photos App will lastly end up only with a new name, whenever the Fall Creators Update arrives later this year. Although this all is just under trial & we may also see some change in the name & it is also possible that the original name gets reverted back at last.
