Garmin unveils their Venu and other smartwatches at IFA 2019

Garmin is one of smartwatch maker who still persists in the market as the whole smartphone monopolizes from Garmin still find some new things show in their smartwatch department. Garmin has announced its flagship Fenix 6 flagship smartwatch which supports GPS and multi-sport tracking capability and battery life of weeks which really puts let Apple Watch down. Fenix 6 also charges direct solar so you can expect more battery life than mentioned on the device packaging. Garmin still maintaining its share market and giving direct competition to FitBit. 

Garmin has announced its latest iteration of the smartwatch in IFA event in this event they have announced three new smart wearables for fitness fetishists. Notably, Garmin is putting its shoes in a new lineup of GPS watches with OLED called as Venu to better compete with Apple Watch. Garmin is also putting some attention to their older product as they bring some improvement to Vivoactive and mechanical hybrid Vivomove series of smartwatches.

Garmin Venu 

Talking about Venu it is the first Garmin’s device which features GPS along with OLED display with 390×390 pixel. The display on the device features always-on mode to function as a proper timepiece. But this feature may have some drawback as the device will consume more battery as compared to other devices. The 43mm Venu is a watch meant to be worn 7/24 designed to alert you to the important event as per your work or workout, it can also track sleep record. It’s basically a more refined version of the full-features Vivoactive tweaked to better compete with Apple instead of outdoors where Garmin watches have traditionally thrived.

Venu’s 1.2-inch OLED touchscreen plays host to live watch faces and also have some animation to demonstrate the exercise so that the user can able to perform their session correctly. User can perform dozen of activity which includes strength training, cardio, yoga, and Pilates. It also features Garmin’s broad range of around-the-clock health monitoring features, including new hydration tracking, new respiration tracking, stress, and menstrual cycle tracking, and pulse ox sleep tracking whereby the watch measures the oxygen saturation in your blood to determine how well you’re sleeping.

The user of Android and iOS cable able to connect to their device easily, the watch is also compatible with Spotify, Deezer and Amazon Music which help to become your music companion while on go. Garmin also features Garmin Pay in the device which is Garmin’s contactless payment system. The device gives around 5 days of battery life in smartwatch mode and six-hour in GPS + music mode and ships in September for $399.99 as the same price as Apple watch.

Garmin Vivoactive

Garmin’s also updated multi-sport wearables, Vivoactive watch models. The Vivoactive 4 (45mm) can go eight days in mode.  The smaller version Vivoactive 4S (40mm) lasts up to 8 days with GPS + music mode. These watches feature the same specs as Venu series when they start shipping this month for $349.99.

Garmin Vivomove

Garmin also has updated their Vivomove line of fashion-oriented fitness watches with mechanical ticking hands and a hidden display. Available in Luxe, Style and 3/3S models, Vivomove series feature GPS, Garmin Pay, pulse ox sleep tracking, and many of the other same health feature as other watches. Luxe is the standout model which has 42mm stainless steel bezel and casing scratch resistance sapphire crystal lens and choice of leather or Milanese metal straps. The 42mm Style model ships with nylon or silicon bands. The smaller 39mm Vivomove 3S and 44mm Vivomove 3 are offered with silicone bands.
