As we are getting close to the launch of Apple next gen. iPhone, the confirmation of design and feature are started to revealing soon. As Apple has released it first build of the upcoming HomePod’s firmware last week, many curious developers give their hands over the firmware code to know more about the device while reading codes many developers have found some facts about upcoming iPhone 8 design and feature. A developer Steve Troughton-Smith has discovered code that seemingly confirms that the upcoming iPhone will support face unlock.

As this feature is already confirmed from many previous leaks that Apple is switch for next gen biometric unlocking system as like Samsung which uses Retinal Scan to unlock the device, Smith explains that the code indicates the existence of Apple new SDK called as Biometric Kit which uses infrared face unlock, as the same feature is responsible for TouchID unlock system. While code also suggests some recognition techniques as how will it perform the scan as it detects partially occluded face and faces from various angles. The codename for the project Pearl ID.

As this feature may replace Apple current Gen Biometric locking system which is known as TouchID, as this decision may tough for Apple because we don’t know about the reliability of this locking system and how it will perform in real world scenario. Apple has been facing issue for placing TouchID inside the iPhone display but they won’t get any success till. Apple’s framework seems to indicate a decent level of security, including checks against things such as images of a face and 3D models of faces.

While if Apple would name this feature it will be surely FaceID, the HomePod code also seemingly confirms the design pattern of iPhone 8 which surely matches all the leaks and expectations of people. Apple also gives some render images of the device into the HomePod firmware which is showing bezel less display and spot for the headpiece, front camera, and FaceID.

The image was in the form of a core animation archive file, which is how Apple stores vector images so they can be displayed in the user interface in any resolution. The code also shows the iPhone 8 codename as “D22.”

Apple’s upcoming flagship iPhone 8 may face a delay in its release as suggested by reports, Apple usually released its smartphones in September but this year it may take October or November to release the device. The upcoming iPhone 8 will be the most advanced smartphone made by the company yet with completely new body design including new features and specs for the users.

According to reports, not only the delay in release, Apple is likely to supply the limited quantity of iPhone 8 during initial few months after the release of the device. While Apple renowned analyst Ming Chi Kuo already suggests this type of leaks way back in April of this year as this battery will be present in iPhone 8.

LG is already being pegged as the sole supplier of such a battery, which would be an unusual move for Apple, who historically has strived for a “multi-vendor strategy” in its supply chain sourcing. LG has already spent “hundreds of billions” in battery production infrastructure and will be ready in time for mass production by early next year.

Apple has recently published a patent regarding currently developing display tech which could be commercially use in wearables devices like AR/VR headsets within the next two to three years. While other devices like iPhone, Macs and other could use this display in later future.

Apple filed this patent in 2nd quarter of this year but published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on Thursday, details various embodiments in which traditional thin film transistor (TFT) backplanes (the driving component of current LED-based active matrix displays) could be replaced by a series of ‘Smart Pixel’ microcontrollers, which can add new functionality not previously possible using current TFTs.

While upcoming iPhone flagship could feature OLED display technology, while according to experts micro-LED could give one to one with OLED technology and Apple could swipe OLED panel to micro-LED in future.

According to Lee Biing-jye, chairman of Taiwanese LED epitaxial wafer and chip maker, Epistar, “Micro LED technology could be used in smaller, wearable devices like smartwatches in three years,” which would coincide with reports that Apple is looking into ways of incorporating Micro LED display tech in an upcoming variant of the Apple Watch. Specifically, the report says that “Apple is inclined to adopt Micro LED technology for small- to medium-size displays,” while other international consumer electronics vendors like Samsung Electronics, for example, plan to apply the technology in its next-generation of big screen TVs.

In the patent Apple has describes how one or more LEDs can combine with one or more micro controller units as the primary pixel switchers and drivers in a display. “In such embodiment, the smart-pixel microcontroller is controlled with a voltage applied to scan lines and a data lines, similar to an active matrix display,” according to PatentlyApple, who adds that “The smart-pixel microcontroller supplements analog circuitry with digital storage to facilitate adaptive refresh rates and display self-refresh.”

So it very important to see how Apple could introduce this technology, and which device will get benefit from Apple new display technology. Apple describe this patent as “Smart Pixel” technology this could mean that new display will have individual pixel control. New Display could use less power so battery of iPhone will become more better than ever.

Demand for smaller smartphone may be obsolete from market as smartphone manufacturers always launch bigger smartphone like phablets or bigger display size than 5”, but still one brand introduce its smartphone in smaller form factor and its no other than Apple iPhone.

According to rumor Apple fall event will happen in two dates on for the launch of iPhone 8 along with iPhone 7s and 7s Plus in October while other event will happen for iPhone SE in August. According to rumors cost for iPhone SE may also decrease to €399, down from about €489.

The rumor is though to be sketchy because for a couple of reason, as Apple has never debut any smartphone in August as they typically release smartphone in June or September.
