WhatsApp has officially confirmed that they have completed the roll-out of dark mode to every Whatsapp user. This was a long-awaited update. In this growing phase of smartphone addiction everyone wants to reduce strain on their eyes in every possible manner and to achieve this fate, no one is ready to reduce their smartphone usage instead they moving toward use of application based dark mode or OEM based forced dark mode.

A lot of smartphone users were using the dark mode on WhatsApp by making use of some tricks like using forced dark mode provided by OEM’s while others were busy hunting for some third-party applications to achieve this providence.

This feature was one of the most anticipated and sought-after features. Every WhatsApp user was inquisitive around the fact that WhatsApp was one of the late-comers in the list of apps facilitated with dark mode. The reason behind this delay is considered to be the outrageous battle between Facebook and other WhatsApp employees, as Facebook took over the major potion and acquired WhatsApp for a whooping $19 billion in summers of 2014 and from that moment itself there was a constant hustle between the founding employees and Facebook’s board of directors over various key points that also includes pushing of advertisements in user interface of the app. It is considered that founders of WhatsApp had to set down forcefully because of the similar close combat civil war situation and some concern over privacy and encryption type.

Dark mode was perceived a number of times in alpha built and some time in beta built as well but was not able to make it to mass consumers. Instead the fingerprint security feature was pushed to the user well before the dark mode update and to be honest this feature was not as relevant as dark mode for the users because anyone can put a fingerprint-based encryption over the app by making use of in-built security and app encryption capability. After this update a security breach was found that lead to data leak and thus WhatsApp had to delay this update. I am still not sure about functionality of this feature even though I am using this for month because you can register only one fingerprint for decryption that limits the convivence of alternate hand usage. For instance, if you have registered your right index finger for decryption and in some case your right index finger is not idle or maybe murky you would not be able to open your WhatsApp and I am quoting all this from personal opinion.

WhatsApp’s own dark mode is more like a grey mode for android users while it serves a z-black texture while using the same on iOS. Rollout of this update started more than a week ago around 4th of March and WhatsApp has officially confirmed that update has reached their complete user base.
